Star Wars: The OT Retrospectives

These retrospectives, by Oliver Harper, are very informative and a “Must Watch” for any fan of the original trilogy. He delves into pre production, filming, merchandising, games, music, and much more. It’s an extremely entertaining watch, or even re-watch. Oliver is a talented editor, plus he is easy to listen to. If you haven’t heard of these before, you’re welcome. If you have, give them a another view… this is my 3rd or 4th time on each.

New This Week: Something Old

IMAG3104

I found these guys yesterday, at a local shop. The price tag for the lot was a bit large until I saw that Brown Snake and cane of Yoda’s. He also has “Pac-Man” eyes. That was the deal maker for me. I was able to get the set for 10% less than marked. There are twenty-one figures, and many of those are ones that I have already. I’ll be posting those on Etsy and looking for a Jedi Knight Luke [loose / incomplete] since I now have all three of his accessories.

As for the Yoda, I’ll definitely be parting with that one. It will pay for the purchase, plus it isn’t the one I had when I was a kid. The one I grew up with was the orange snake common version and that’s the one that I would rather have again.

This Day in #StarWars History: 28 June 1978, Boba Fett

This is a pretty cool video. It’s nothing new. It’s been around forever but it is always fun to revisit. Like millions of other kids from the 70’s, my first introduction to Boba Fett was the best part of the overly maligned ‘Holiday Special’. It was the most memorable part of the show. I had a Anniversary Edition McQuarrie prototype but I had to sell it on Ebay. Recently I was able to pick up a Walgreen’s Exclusive Prototype Black Series without getting over charged.

From StarWars.Com’s Official YouTube Channel:

Many have seen the early Ralph McQuarrie sketches of Boba Fett sporting the all-white helmet and armor. What you haven’t seen is the original white Fett costume in action. A videotape was rolling to capture “proto Fett’s” reveal to Lucas and company at the filmmaker’s home on June 28, 1978. In the video, sound designer Ben Burtt “hosts” Fett’s reveal, describing the different weapons, functions, and characteristics of the costume (worn by Empire’s assistant film editor Duwayne Dunham for the test).

Rebuilding My Collection / Mid-life Regression?

So here I am 45, as of the 3rd of May 2015, and I am just on the cusp of becoming gainfully employed again. It’s been a while since I had a regular job, but the contract stuff and selling online is just getting us by. Once I re-enter the 9-5 world, after 20 years, I plan on replacing/upgrading many things (car, appliances, computers) and rebuilding the collecting that had dwindled over the years. Presented here is what we have left, that isn’t up for sale. Some is my wife’s, others are mine, and some we’ve collected together. The best thing about collecting again is that, if needed, I can always flip my stuff for more than I paid and start over again.

If you want to see what I would like to add to my collection, so far, then check out my collection list on eBay: My 45 Year Wish List! Misty’s will be building her list soon.
